9 Winter Health Tips

Winter is a season when people crave for more food and continue eating at irregular intervals. Relying on such unhealthy food habits combined with the drop in temperatures and high risk of spreading infections leads to lethargy,dryness, pain in joints, cold ,flu among others.

Below are a few winter health tips or actions to be taken to battle out the colder conditions :

Keep your immune system in top Notch: Your immune system is what keeps you fit and fine throughout the day.You can boost up your immune system by keeping a stock of Fresh green Leafy Vegetables. Also ensure that you pile up a source of Vitamin A,C,E in your house such as Oranges,Pineapples,Grapes,Strawberries,Papaya. These elements help you maintain healthy skin,hair, and immune system. Vitamin C is especially helpful as it the provider of Anti-Viral Agent, which is at most needed during Cold, chilly winters.

Take that Extra Nap: Its a very common problem among people who find it difficult to open their eyes during early winter mornings. So feel free and don’t shy away from taking that extra bit of nap.

Controlling your Food intake: Winters are the most suitable and probably golden time for all the food enthusiasts out there. During winters people usually feel the urge to eat Hot beverages and Deep fried Snacks.As days are shorter people aren’t just hungrier, they tend to eat the food quicker. Don’t just gorge upon such high calorie foods, since cream based soups and cream laden caffeine aren’t healthy at all.

Enjoy going Outdoors: Most parents just don’t allow their siblings to play outside during colder environments as they feel, children can easily catch Cold. This is a very common misconception among adults. According to American Academy of Pediatricians, Cold whether does not catch Cold or Flu.Viruses that cause common colds tend to be more when children are in close contact with each other. Advice your young ones and teach them to cover their nose and mouth with handkerchiefs while they sneeze. This would definitely prevent or atleast lessen the chances of them catching infections.

Start Jogging: Now this one’s really tough since it is very difficult to get out of the house when environment around you is chilly and cold breeze is constantly flowing. Jogging or cycling regularly helps your muscles loosen up, since they are tighter during winters as a result is more prone to injuries.

Cover your body with warmers: If you are feeling cold , don’t wait until your fingers get numbed. Wear socks , gloves, sweaters , jackets , mufflers, woolen caps , and whatever attire or clothing that is around you to protect your body (particularly head ,ears and chest ) from the chilly winds.

Hydrate Yourself :It is not normal to feel thirsty during winters , yet keep your body hydrated by consuming lots of Fluids. Hot fluids in the form of clear soups and herbal tea would help.

Skin Care: Your skin is the most likely to be the victim of colder conditions. Scarcity of Moisture in the air leaves your skin dry. So nourish your skin with moisture’s cream and keep it healthy. Pour in some love and affection to your skin Folks !!

Be heart healthy : The rise in cases of Heart attacks during winters is a much debated topic , but it still remains a fact. So if you are a heart patient keep a control of whatever you eat, exercise moderately and without any hesitation head to the hospital whenever you feel any sort of uneasiness.
