Government Fails in Their Promise: No Aakash for Students this Year

aakash

thumbs Down!

A year ago when Kapil Sibal was giving lectures of their gadget Aakash, people applauded as it was World’s cheapest tablet ever manufactured (and then there was avalanche of cheap tablets) but Indian Government fails to fulfill their promise of delivering Aakash tablets from this very academic season.

Reason of Failure of Aakash?

The project was shifted from IIT-Rajasthan to IIT-Bombay, the tablets were expected to be delivered by May. But not one piece is ready to be delivered to students yet .

Datawind, the company behind Aakash, said that they didn’t receive any funds and it got transferred in the month of April only.

“Funds were transferred from Rajasthan only in April. Currently, we are developing applications and content for engineering colleges. We will inform about delivery in due course of time”- Said Professor Deepak Phatak, in-charge of Aakash project at IIT Bombay

Mumbai University had ordered 40,000 Aakash tablets but they are yet to receive any intimation from the company/govt.

What’s the actual reason of failure? Share your views in comments
