Browsing Facebook these days has become very boring with not-at-all user friendly features like poor Timeline design, irritating ticker, not so good chat and other stupid features. But wait, you can make Facebook the way you want. You can bring infinite changes in your Facebook and you can completely control it.
What you need is just one simple browser Extension: Social Fixer . Just install it for your browser. It’s available for Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, or as a Greasemonkey userscript. Once it’s installed, open up Facebook, and you should notice a few different things right off the bat.
To install, head over to Social Fixer’s homepage
Features you can add in Facebook after Installing Social Fixer:
Disable Lightbox: This disable’s Facebook’s new photo viewer that overlays itself over the page you were viewing. We actually think this is a pretty great feature, but if you’d rather have the old school image viewer that displayed each image on a new page, you can check this option to get it back.
Hide the Ticker: If that new ticker annoys the crap out of you, you can turn it off with this option. You can technically hide it already with Facebook, but that will still leave the bar at the top of the page. This will remove that entire section of your home page altogether and just make it a bit cleaner.
Hide Wall Posts: If you have many friends, your feed can be fast-moving and overwhelming. Each time you visit, you have to scan your feed to see which stories are new and which ones you’ve already read. Social Fixer gives you the ability to mark posts as “read” - either individually or everything on the page - and they will be hidden next time you visit! Only new stories will be shown by default. But with the next feature, it gets even better.
Enlarge thumbnails : When you hover over thumbnail images anywhere in Facebook (even thumbnail profile pictures by posts!) Social Fixer will automatically enlarge the picture and show it to you in the upper corner. This way you don’t have to click on each image to view the full picture.
Friend Tracker: This adds a handy little box in the right hand sidebar that lets you know who has unfriended you on Facebook. It won’t show you who’s unfriended you in the past, only who’s unfriended you since you installed Social Fixer, but still—it’s pretty handy to have there just in case.
Left Column Navigation: Finding the links to some features of Facebook can be tricky. That’s why Social Fixer can insert links into the left navigation bar to some common places you might want to go. It can also automatically expand Messages, Events, Photos, and Friends sections if you find those sub-menus handy.
Control what you see: Feed Filters give you full control over what stories you want to see or hide. It also lets you define rules to move stories to separate tabs so they are logically grouped how you want them to be. Gone are the days of simple Facebook Feed Filters, which only let you choose to hide stories by type. Now you can specify such specific rules as hiding one type of story, only if posted by a few specified users, and only if they contain a key word (for example). That’s power!
Force the News Feed to switch to “Recent Stories First”: By default, Facebook only shows you the top stories rather than every post made by your friends. If you prefer seeing all your friends’ posts, this option will make your News Feed default to Recent instead of Top Stories.
and many many more.. Just install and try it yourself! Check out the video to understand it better!
