We know the concept of re-writable CD drives, so that, one can rewrite on the same disk again and save money and material. Soon, you will see in the market, “UnPrinter” which removes ink from the already printed paper which helps save paper and helps going green.
How does the unprinter work?
The technique, developed by a team at the University of Cambridge , uses short pulses of laser light to delete words and images printed on paper. The laser vaporizes the toner ink without damaging the paper and opens up the prospect of future computer printers and photocopiers having an ‘unprint’ function to allow paper to be reused, the researchers claimed.
It will drastically reduce the number of trees being cut as papers will be reused and environment will be saved - Says Julian Allwood who led the research
The cost of the prototype would reach £19,000 but it will reduce as with the increase in feasibility of technology and commercialization.
