Everyone is living their life today but life without prayer is meaningless. A majority of us are running a rat race and are ever engaged in accumulating wealth in trying to raise the standard of our living.

Yet, in this life, one cannot miss out on prayers, which is the food for our soul. The Gayatri Mantra, the Hanuman Chalisa, Durga Chalisa and many other shlokas along with the Aartis of the different Gods and Goddesses brings enormous peace on our mental being. These mantras have a soothing and calming effect on the mind, filling the mind with an eternal tranquility.
Those who live without prayers, their lives are devoid of the juice that is needed for living. A prayer helps one survive the worst ordeals of life and may give one lasting peace even in a battlefield.
There cannot be a single day when you don’t remember God. Remembering God is everything especially in this Kaliyuga that we are living in. Infact, we must remember God while eating, sleeping, drinking water and performing any task, no matter how small or big. Forgetting God is like forgetting your roots, your very own self and getting lost in the glitter of the world.
It is said that Kaliyuga began after Lord Krishna passed away roughly 5,000 years ago and the duration of this Kaliyuga is 4,32,000 years, so that makes it another 4,27,000 years remaining before another Krita Yuga or Satya Yug returns and before the birth of the Kalki avatar.
There is a saying that faith can move mountains and prayers are an integral part of one’s faith. Sometimes a silent prayer for someone can cause miracles in that person’s life. Prayer is the very base of human values and it keeps you going in the toughest times of your life.
Then there are people who do not believe in God and in such cases these people deprive themselves the very opportunity to get lost in the Glory of the God and fill their mind with bliss and peace.
I would like to give two arguments for people who do not believe in God. The first is, suppose an air-plane is flying high in the sky and you are on the ground, can you state that there is no pilot in the plane? It is the same way with God, you cannot rule him out of your life, just because you cannot see him.
Another instance is that the only way to prove the smell of the flower is by smelling one. Same is the case with God. The only way to know that God exists is to experience him. Yet for those who believe in God, no explanation is necessary and for those who do not believe in God, no explanation is possible.
It is said, that the sages who performed great meditation at the time of the previous Satya Yug or the Krita Yug managed to get only the darshanam from the Lord. During the time of Treta Yug at the time of Lord Ram, they were born as monkeys who fought the war with the Lord and for the Lord and as such they got the darshan and Sambhashanam (talk) with the Lord. During the time of Dwapar Yuga, in Lord Krishna’s time, these sages of the Krita Yug, took the form of the gopis and the gopalaas and were among his many queens and they got Darshan, Sambhashanam and Sparshan (touch).
Finally, prayers help us survive and make us stand on our feet. Namasmaran or remembering the name of the Lord is the only medicine recommended for the Kali yuga that we are living in. We do not forget to eat, and neither to drink water, so we cannot forget our prayers.
