Cure and Care for PCOD

PCOD which is actually polycystic ovary syndrome is a syndrome where you get cyst in your ovaries a condition caused due to a hormonal imbalance. It causes an imbalance in your menstrual cycle making it difficult to get pregnant, change in skin type, obesity later leading to psychological problems; some studies say women with PCOD are prone to diabetes also.

What causes PCOD?

• It is a hormonal imbalance. The ovaries make more androgens than they are supposed to make.

• This causes you to stop ovulating leading to a delayed menstrual cycle.

Symptoms of PCOD

• Absent periods or irregular periods

• Infertility

• Excess hair growth

• Acne

• Thinning of your facial hair

• Mood swings

• Fatigue

• Irritability

• Weight gain

• Dark and thick skin around the neck and under the armpits

Cure and care for Women with PCOD

• Regular exercise

• Healthy diet

• No stress

• If you are overweight then losing weight is the most important

• For infertility because of PCOD the best treatment is to lose weight, walk regularly and a course of a medicine- Metformine as prescribed by the doctor and under the doctor’s supervision.

• In some cases surgery of drilling the ovaries is also successful

• Sometimes birth control pills help in controlling PCOD

• In some cases Hormone replacement therapy also works well

I have 2 children despite having PCOD. All I did was walk regularly, lost weight and took a course of metformine. Also took no stress as the root cause of all these problems is stress. SO all those women with PCOD there is nothing to worry and you can be pregnant with a little bit of effort.

• The sex hormones get out of balance. Normally, the ovaries make a tiny amount of male sex hormones (androgens). In PCOS, they start making slightly more androgens. This may because you to stop ovulating, get acne, and grow extra facial and body hair.

• The body may have a problem using insulin, called insulin resistance. When the body doesn’t use insulin well, blood sugar levels go up. Over time, this increases your chance of getting diabetes.
